CANCER?????????????????????????????????????????????????? went to a specialist after months of severe neck pain...and on the Mri it showed a white lump on my neck. The dr didn't seem concerned and had me have a ct scan. He said it was a benign hemangioma and nothing to worry about. This lump has been killing me, feeling like it was twisting my neck, last night I was up till 7:30 am. I also developed chest pain..and pain in my left side, could that be the spleen? I don't know what the problem is, and the dr's don't have a clue either...any ideas? Could this be cancer? Aren't malignant tumors not painful and benign ones painful? If it isn't cancer...then what?? I had lyme disease last year but was treated...is it possible I wasn't on medication long enough? The tick bite has gotten red again...from last year?? Or is this just a coincidence? I also have severe burning on my left side, by the ribs..and what I assume is the spleen looks enlarged. I have joint pain, and my back burns so much that I thought I had a heating pad on lol...my mom said that means inflamation of the kidneys??? Is this cancer? Lyme disease? IDK I had lyme disease last year, but was treated. I have joint pain, and the bite where the tick bit turns red on occasional days, but that was last year? I have had some headaches and hearing loss...LYME DISEASE?

How can cancer develop in really healthy people taking good care of themselves? A heavy smoker can develop lung cancer because of harmful chemicals overtime to his lungs. But sometimes, lung cancer can develop in a nonsmoker's lung. Or breast cancer can develop in a healthy woman's body. Don't get me wrong. I know that healthy people are much less likely to get cancer. However, sometimes cancer can develop in healthy people.
What are some cancer diet-friendly meals for my neighbor with pancreatic cancer? My neighbor has pancreatic cancer. Both she and her husband are both elderly and my husband and I want to help them with their upcoming family dinner to celebrate their son's engagement. I understand a cancer patient's palate can be extra-sensitive and she has talked to me about the chemo-induced nausea she deals with daily so I want to make sure it best meets her needs. From those with experience, what would you recommend we make for them? We're looking for entree and dessert ideas. Thank you!
What types of cancer are common during late adolescence and early adulthood? Is there a good website to look up this information? I tried googling it I'm not getting any good results. I'm just curious as to what types of cancer I should be aware or concerned about. I am 18 and I know I shouldn't be too concerned about cancer at this age, but it does happen. I don't know my medical history and I have no idea whether my family has a history of cancer or not.
What is the best way to cure esophageal cancer? My father is suffering from esophageal cancer. The cancer has affected a nerve near his throat causing him to lose his voice. Also, it has already metastasized to two other organs. He has been treated with combined chemotherapy and radiation therapy for half a year, but his cancer shows no sign of shrinking and it's gradually growing. His doctor says he cannot surgically remove the cancer because the cancer is adjacent to nerves and important organs and such an operation will damage the adjacent areas. Isn't there any good way to cure his cancer?
Why does cancer appear in some places more frequently than others? For example, people get tumors in their lungs, bladder, stomach, intestines, brain, breasts, and other organs but you never see anyone developing cancer on their fingers, feet, thighs, etc... Cancer is suppose to be able to develop on any tissue in the body so why does it appear more frequently in certain areas? Can someone please explain this to me, I really want to know.
How is it possible that healthy people can get cancer? Despite healthy people eating the right and healthy foods with good exercise, how is it possible that these people who take good care of themselves get cancer? But isn't it suppose to be the other way around? In other words, I mean that people who don't take care of their health and eat fatty, unhealthy foods get cancer. I doesn't make sense when healthy people like healthy non-smoking, healthy people get lung cancer. I know the causes of cancer is to eat unhealthy foods and not do many healthy activities. But my question is...... What is the cause of lung cancer for people who are non-smokers and take good care of their health? The wife the actor Christopher Reeve(Dana Reeve) died from lung cancer even though she was a non-smoker and a very healthy person. When you choose to answer my question, don't answer with "that's how life is" or "that's the way it is" or "life is unfair". Please give a specific and elaborate answer to my question. Is nature responsible?
How is cancer is more potent than a cell inflicted with a virus if they have similar characteristics? A virus is foreign RNA enters the body and actually becomes part of the cell's DNA. Cancer is caused when the DNA of a cell becomes mutated one way or another and the cell will divide and replicate uncontrollably. Both "virused" and cancerous cells are cells with mutations in the DNA. To me, virus is just RNA that causes mutation from the outside whereas cancer is mutations that come from within. Where is the real difference between these two mutations, if not in potency and ability to damage the body?
Is anyone else upset that breast cancer is the only publicized awareness month? I'm all for cancer awareness but why is breast cancer the only publicized cancer awareness month? Many people suffer from all types of cancer daily and I've had family suffer from both Leukemia and Pancreatic Cancer. It's seems that if a celebrity is diagnosed with a cancer or has died from a cancer that's the only way awareness will be publicized. Now that Patrick Swayze has passed I'm sure Pancreatic cancer will be well known coming this November (Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Month) Does anyone agree?

How do I plan a cancer walk for my school? Next year, I want to plan to have a cancer walk that students can participate in, but I have never been in charge of planning a cancer walk before. What advice do you have? Who can I get in contact with to do this? Should other people be allowed into the cancer walk? Should we put together teams to walk that day? Any suggestions are appreciated and will be taken seriously. dink2925, I am perfectly aware of the way cancer has affected and changed our society. I have many loved ones who have been diagnosed with the cancer throughout my 14 years of existence, and I have decided to raise awareness to this and to do raise money to help provide treatment for these people. I am doing something about a major illness in the United States, something that I believe is just as important as picking up trash on the side of the road.
What make pancreatic cancer so different from other cancers? From everything that I have read about pancreatic cancer it is uncurable. What would motivate feminists to make misleading claims about prostate cancer deaths? One feminist, who claims some sort of medical expertise, he repeatedly claimed that most men die WITH prostate cancer but not FROM prostate cancer. While this is true, simply because most men of a certain age have started to develop cancerous prostate cells and therefore most men who die do have prostate cancer, this claim is very misleading because it fails to acknowledge that prostate cancer is the second leading cause of cancer deaths among men.
Can cancer skip every other generation in your family? Can cancer be so hereditary as to skip every other generation in a family? On my dad's side of the family it seems like it does. Both my great grandmothers on my father's side had cancer (breast cancer and another type) and a great grandfather had cancer as well. My grandparents did not have cancer. My father ended up having cancer out of the three of my grandparents children. Me nor any of my cousins have had cancer. Is it possible any of our children will?

How do I deal with my dad having cancer? My problem isn't that I am feeling overly depressed or crying constantly. In fact, its the exact opposite. I've never been very close to my father because he always worked late and was out of state. Now he has cancer and I don't feel at all worried about him. Yes I hope that he is alright but I don't get very sad about his cancer and I haven't cried once. Am I a bad son for not caring enough? Is my reaction to his cancer normal?
What does it mean when you have breast cancer in three different areas? My friend just found out that she has breast cancer in her right breast but three different lump types of cancer in one breast, and it has effected her lymph nodes at least two of them. What are her chances and what stage cancer would that be? She is going to be having a mascetomy and chemo.
What are the signs that cancer is terminal? I know close to nothing about cancer. My mum has been recently diagnosed with breast cancer, and from the state she is in, my view is that it is too late for any treatment. (Sorry for being vague here, I find it too difficult to describe her body. She is physically extremely weak already). All sorts of tests are being done currently to assess the situation. Before the doctors give us some feed back, I am just wondering if anybody has experiences to relate. Also, do you know of people who have been saved with chemio "at the last minute"? (In her case, it is too late for all other treatments, as doctors told her). Thank you.
Can cancer be spread by diseased transplanted organs/bones to a person without cancer? Can a person without cancer get cancer from a transplanted body part that has malignant cancer? In other words, lets say (person a) dies of malignant cancer that has spread to his liver. His liver is stolen and cause of death was changed to heart attack or something by some criminal. The liver is then transplanted to an otherwise healthy (person b) without cancer who for some reason needs a liver. Can the liver spread cancer to other parts of (person b)'s body?

What is worse cancer or a mental disorder such as Schizophrenia? Cancer: Terminating disease(with few exceptions), you know you are going to die, you are prepared to die, you suffer, your family suffers but you have support and can manage life until you die. Schizophrenia: hallucinations, paranoia, you think every one is out to get you, can't function in a normal way, self consciousness, anxiety, depression, its so bad that 40% of people with schizophrenia attempt suicide, it CAN be treated but full recovery is unlikely. What do u think?

She tells everybody she has cancer and we all know that it isn't true because of the ridiculous things she says, but she still has it in her mind she has cancer. Is there some sort of registry or anything of people with cancer? Thanks!

Heres the question: In one person cancer may be cured through the use of a certain drug or by means of radiation treatment, whereas in another person cancer may be unaffected by these treatment methods. Suggest the most likely explanation for this difference in response.
What is the correctly cancer recurrence rate after 5 years? I had a stage 3 colorectal (symoid) cancer 6 years ago, and things went well other than a few blockages. It is possible that there are still cancer cells within my body, although the machines cannot detect these cells (too small) and I do not have cancer symtoms. So, what is the chance that the cancer will come back at my symoid site or spreaded to my liver or lung?
At what age should you start prostate cancer screenings if you have a strong family history? My husband will be 30 soon and I wonder when he should start psa screening for prostate cancer. His father, paternal grandfather, and paternal uncle all had/have prostate cancer. His father was diagnosed at age 43 but it appears to be out of remission now after 10 years. I've read the recommended age is 45 or 50 yrs but if my father-in-law waited to 45 he'd be dead by now. So if you have a strong family history, what's the best time to start?
How Long Can Someone Expect To Live With Pancreatic Cancer? I'm planning on writing a book about a girl whose father is diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. I've researched a lot, but the one thing I'm having difficulty with is finding out how long the cancer will take to kill him. I realize that this varies a lot based on health and when it's first detected, but can anyone give me a generalization for how long it could be? Also, what types of diseases would the doctors test him for before they realize what it really is? Thank you so much!
How long does cancer take to spread in a dog? Why do you think so much more attention is paid to breast cancer over Prostate Cancer? The US Government spends double on breast cancer research over prostate and the corporate disparity is much greater. Campbells soup doesn't have Prostate awareness soup cans! Although deaths from breat cancer are 1/3 higher there are far more cases of prostate cancer, over 240,000 per year. The funding and awarness differential is 300 or 400%. So is it a gender issue, an age issue (tends to be later onset) or What?

How do chemotherapy drugs interact chemically with cancer to kill the cancerous cells? I have to give a chemistry project tomorrow in class and I need to have a basic understanding of what goes on chemically between chemotherapy drugs and the cancerous cells. Like what element interacts with what and how the chemo drugs stop the cancer cells from replicating. If anyone even has a most basic chemical explanation as to what occurs I would really appreciate it.
How do you detect skin cancer in a cat? Can cats get skin cancer? Because I think my cat may be developing it. He has this one spot on his back that is especially dandruffy, and it is dry and the fur is getting thinner, and whenever you touch right there he starts licking his chest, and basicly freaking out. I love my cat dearly and want to help him. He isn't allowed out doors, but i have no clue what he has. He is overweight, but most of his fur is soft and beautiful except for the one spot He weighs around 18 pounds and is 6 years old, going on 7. PLease help me i love my cat. He is the best pet i have ever had. I treat him like he is my son I highly doubt my parents will believe me. Do you think I'm stupid? I would ask a cet if I could *vet is what i meant to say MY cat is not allowed out doors...he has dark fur.
What types of breast cancer create thickening of the skin? My mom just found out she has a rarer form of breast cancer. Its not the type that is a lump, instead its a thickening of the skin. Its not inflammed or red looking it just feels thick I guess more like a callous and is about 3 inches long. Anyone hear of this type of breast cancer? I have done a search online but only come up with the Inflammatory cancer which I dont think this is. The doctor said its not really an aggressive form if that helps.

How do you deal with learning that a loved one has cancer? My mother is at risk for thyroid cancer. Though I've heard it's not necessarily a deadly cancer, the surgery to remove the nodule to lessen her pain has a death rate of 1/2. Her nodule has calcification, but we're waiting to hear whether it's malignant or benign. How can I brace myself for the news if she has cancer? How do you possibly deal with learning that your mother will either die or be in pain for the rest of her life?
What does treatment for prostate cancer consist of, and does it affect a male's ability to have sex? A very close friend of ours has been diagnosed with prostate cancer (it really *isn't* my partner or me!) and we were wondering what his treatment options might be. If the prostate gland is removed, does that eliminate the ability to have sex? Probably best to have an older person answer this: it's pretty obvious by the question that this is going to be completely out of the realm of experience for most of the teenagers.
What do thay mean by types of cancer or cancer is not a disease? Cancer is not one disease. It is an overgrowth of an organ or a part of your body. What do thay mean by types of cancer or not all cancer is the same? Than why are some cancer there is a cure?

What is the best preventative way to prevent cancer from returning? My son had Acute Lymphoblastic Luekemia, a blood cancer. He is now in remission. He is 7 years old and had 3 years of chemotherapy. What cheap options do we have in alternative medicine to help prevent cancer from returning and to help heal the damage the chemo did, especially the Vincristine and Septra on what it did to his joints. They hurt and he falls all the time now. Any opinions or facts and know of any good Alterative Medicine Clinicians in Indiana close to Indianapolis or Kokomo?

What kind of tests or examinations should be done for breast cancer? So I am 20 years old and I began to become more worried about breast cancer. There is no history of breast cancer in my family but I just thought it would be good to do some early testing just in case. So I was wondering, what kind of tests should be done to detect breast cancer at age 20? I heard that mannograms should be done around 35. Is there any other examinations that you can do at an early age? And if there is where can I get them done? Regular family physician, gynocologist? Thanks everyone!
How can we find local diabetes or cancer foundations to donate to? We would like to donate money in someone's name, to a cancer foundation or diabetes foundation or something along those lines. Unfortunately, everyone wants to go online these days and we do not want to donate to a foundation over the internet, we would like to do it in person and have a proof of donation (I know that there are printable ones if you donate online, but that requires giving someone your credit card number). So is there any way to locate local places to donate? We live in West/Southwest Michigan.
What questions to ask about a kid who had cancer and is dead? I have an interview to do for the school's newspaper. The article is about this kid who passed away because he had cancer. What are some questions to ask about him for his teachers, friends, and possibly family members? He didn't pass away long ago I completely don't know him at all.
What would happen if a man had the cervical cancer jab? I know it's a silly question, but recently the girls in my school have had their jabs to protect against cervical cancer. And it got me thinking: what would happen if a man got that jab? Would it have no affect at all? Or would it have some horrible malforming side effects? Preferably I'd like an actual medical opinion rather than just a thought.

What is the correct cancer treatment for this? If you have a precancerous growth at a different site in the same organ from where you had cancer originally, what would treatment be? Would you need more chemo because of your cancer history, if you have only been in remission for a few months. I think the precancerous growth had the same type of cells as the original cancer, or something like that.

How difficult is traveling with lung cancer and emphazema? My grandmother was diagnosed with the early stage of lung cancer and enphazema (shocker: she's a smoker). She is due to have surgery to remove part of one of her lobes next week. My question is, I am planning my wedding (I live in California and she lives in Texas) and need to know if she can travel by airplane? I'm afraid that the recirculated air will be bad for her health. If traveling is going to be a problem for her, I will gladly have my wedding in Texas. Any ideas?
How long should I wait after cancer to have a baby? This really sucks cause my husband and I were planning to have our next baby about now when I got diagnosed with cancer. I am currently going for chemotherapy right now. After my chemo is done, how long is it recommended that I wait?
How can we make curing cancer a global priority? Cancer kills 7 million people worldwide each year. Yet it is a treatable disease that—in time—is beatable. However, in today’s troubled global environment, valuable resources that would otherwise go to cancer research are frequently re-directed by the crisis du jour. What can we, as individuals and as a global community, do to focus & mobilize our governments to find the cures that will make cancer a fear of the past?
